Snider attends annual agriculture educator conference

Carley Snider, from Felicity, attended the 2016 National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Selected from a pool of nationwide candidates, Snider was one of 24 pre-service agricultural education students who participated in the Future Agriscience Teacher (FAST) symposium, five day professional development and networking event that was part of the annual NAAE convention.

Bush to serve term as National ACT Officer

Amanda Bush, a senior majoring in agricultural communication at The Ohio State University, was elected to serve a one-year term as communications coordinator for National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT). This election took place at the 2016 Agricultural Media Summit in St. Louis, Missouri.

In her role as communications coordinator, Bush will be responsible for maintaining the National ACT website and social media, as well as assisting the member relations coordinator to promote membership.

ACEL Graduate Students Attend National Association of Extension 4-H Agents Annual Conference

Five ACEL graduate students participated in the annual NAE4-HA Conference earlier this month.  The National Association of Extension 4-H Agents (NAE-4H) is an organization committed to helping youth development professionals through professional development, networking, and research.  More than 1,600 participants were in attendance at this year’s conference hosted in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The theme of the conference this year was “Bayous and Byways: 4-H Navigating the Future” and ACEL graduate students presented posters, presentations, and workshops highlighting this theme.

Masambuka delivers presentation to Prince Albert II of Monaco on behalf of the Global Water Institute

Vonderhaar completes internship with Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum

Ryan Vonderhaar, of Camden, completed an internship this summer with Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum in Carrollton, Ohio.

During the internship, Vonderhaar was responsible for planning and facilitating events that occur for high school students during FFA camps. These events include aquatic activities, high ropes, and tours of an ongoing timber harvest.

Vonderhaar returned to Ohio State in August to continue his degree in agricultural communication. He is the son of Alan and Rachel Vonderhaar and a graduate of Talawanda High School.

Wippel holds internship with Ohio Farm Bureau

Mallorie Wippel, of Orient, completed an internship this summer with Ohio Farm Bureau Federation in Columbus, Ohio.

During the internship, Wippel was responsible to plan and execute an interactive educational exhibit at the Ohio State Fair to teach the general public about agriculture. Wippel facilitated partnerships with various Ohio agricultural commodity groups to provide a wide breadth of knowledgeable experts to engage the public about all aspects of the industry.

Hoey completes internship with ADM Grain

Audrey Hoey, of Chillicothe, completed an internship this summer with ADM Grain in Farmer City, Illinois.

During the internship, Hoey was responsible for buying corn and soybeans from farmers in central Illinois and selling to processors, writing contracts and assisting farmers with their marketing strategies and reaching out to farmers through emails tailored to their farm needs.

Price to complete internship with COBA/Select Sires

Michaela Price, of Wellington, completed an internship this summer with COBA/Select Sires in Columbus, Ohio.

During the internship, Price was responsible for direct marketing mailing routes, designing advertisements for the Buckeye Hereford magazine and other promotional materials, such as posters and flyers. She also had the opportunity to spend time in the field with coworkers to broaden her knowledge of the dairy industry.
