About Us: Weller completes internship with Ohio 4-H Animal Sciences

Nov. 3, 2017

Brittany Weller, of Bellevue, completed an internship this past summer with Ohio 4-H Animal Sciences in Columbus, Ohio.

During her internship, Weller assisted with creating stations for the 2017 Ohio State Fair Skillathons. She made edits to and crafted new stations while working closely with the superintendents of the species to make sure the skillathons were high quality. During the Ohio State Fair, she set-up, monitored, helped score, and tore down each of her assigned skillathons.

Weller was also involved in the preparation and facilitation of other animal science competitions at the State Fair, including the livestock judging contest, avian bowl, poultry judging and horse judging.

“Brittany’s experience with livestock and career preparation in agricultural education benefited our team as we designed new skillathon stations to evaluate youth’s animal knowledge,” said Dustin Homan, program manager for Ohio 4-H. “We hope this experience provided ideas and content that will help her engage future students through hands-on learning activities.”

Weller is a sophomore at Ohio State studying agriscience education. The agriscience education major at Ohio State prepares its students you to acquire a license to teach agricultural science in secondary high schools in Ohio and across the country, with extensive training in agricultural science, educational psychology, instructional methods, and youth development.
