The Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership had 70 undergraduate students recognized by the University for their academic accomplishments for the 2016 Spring Semester as a member of the Dean’s List. Additionally, 17 students received a 4.0. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must have a 3.5 GPA or higher.

ACEL graduate student, Ashlan Wickstrom, was awarded a Director’s Scholarship from the American Jersey Cattle Association (AJCA). This $1,500 scholarship will be used to support Wickstrom’s graduate studies in the upcoming academic year.

Brianna Gwirtz, of Shelby, is completing an internship this summer with Lynd Fruit Farm.
During the internship, Gwirtz is responsible for filming, editing, and sharing informational and promotional videos on fruit production at Lynd Fruit Farm, as well as creating signage for the market and content for social media. She also maintains the website and assists in the preparation for school tours that will begin this fall, in addition to a variety of other projects.

Amber Dietz, of Southington, will complete an internship this summer with American Guernsey Association in Columbus, Ohio.
During the internship, Dietz will create sales catalogs, write and take photos for Purebred Publishing, and create a National Brown Swiss Directory. She assisted in planning for the National Junior Show and ran the Purebred Publishing blog during the National Convention sale.

Demi Snider, of Kenton, will complete an internship this summer with Hardin County Extension Office, Family and Consumer Sciences.
During the internship, Snider will use her communication skills to share healthy eating and exercise habits, healthy relationships and healthy finances through curriculum development for Girl’s Group, a group that focuses on forming positive relationships among 4th-6th grade girls and their peers. Positive self-image, leadership skills, public speaking, and etiquette are also areas the group will focus on.

Micah Mensing, of Oak Harbor, will complete an internship this summer with Helena Chemical Co. in Martin, Ohio.
During the internship, Mensing will be responsible for test plot organization and data entry, soil sampling, veris testing, and weed identification He will work closely with salesmen and an agronomist during customer interaction in the field.
Mensing will return to Ohio State in August to continue his degree in agriscience education. He is the son of Charles Mensing and a graduate of Oak Harbor High School.

Abby Motter, of Mansfield, is completing an internship with the Town & Country Cooperative this summer in Ashland, Ohio.
During the 12-week internship, Motter will work as a field scout, collect data and tissue sampling, communicate field practices and treatment options to customers, and assist with company test plots. She will also have the opportunity to job shadow company positions such as a dairy nutritionist, seed sales and a grain merchandiser.

Devin Roth, of Findlay, will complete an internship this summer with AmericanHort in Columbus, Ohio.
During the internship, Roth will use her communication skills to create social media content, design web advertisements, handouts, event graphics and sponsorship graphics, as well as assist with projects in email tracking and analysis.
