Aug. 29, 2016

Mallorie Wippel, of Orient, completed an internship this summer with Ohio Farm Bureau Federation in Columbus, Ohio.

During the internship, Wippel was responsible to plan and execute an interactive educational exhibit at the Ohio State Fair to teach the general public about agriculture. Wippel facilitated partnerships with various Ohio agricultural commodity groups to provide a wide breadth of knowledgeable experts to engage the public about all aspects of the industry.

In addition to planning the exhibit, Wippel also participated in the hiring and will manage 24 staff members tasked with engaging and interacting with fair visitors during the 12 day fair.

Wippel will return to Ohio State in August to continue her degree in agricultural communication. She is the daughter of Jeff and Sherrie Wippel and a graduate of Westfall High School.

The agricultural communication major at Ohio State prepares students to plan, develop, and implement a communication campaign, using visual media, writing and editing. Students study crisis communication, graphic design, marketing, and journalism so they can spread the word about agriculture.
