Lauren Mellott, an agriscience education student at Ohio State, was selected to attend the Agriculture Future of America (AFA) Crop Science Institute in Sacramento, California. At this event, which was held in late July, delegates had the opportunity to meet with the crop industry professionals innovating the fields of genetics, sustainability, and technology.

During my time in Sacramento I had the opportunity to network with a variety of professionals, companies, and young leaders in the industry,” said Mellott in a LinkedIn post.

The Crop Science Institute helps students discover the latest innovations in soil and crop sciences and is made possible by sponsors and partners. Mellott said, “I am so thankful for organizations who believe in and support the next generations of agriculturalists.”

As an agriscience education student, Mellott will take what she has learned about the crop industry and the connections made to the classroom to provide unique experiences to her future students.
