July 8, 2014

Eileen  Gress, of Shreve, Ohio, will complete an internship this summer with the Ohio Department of Agriculture Communications Office in Columbus, Ohio.

Gress will be working on a variety of graphic design projects, including infographics for social media use and designing materials for the Ohio State Fair and Farm Science Review. She will also be responsible for generating content for the blog “The Dirt” (www.agri.ohio.gov/blog/) and gain valuable knowledge on media relations and preparing materials to the media.

“We are very excited to have Eileen on board with us this summer,” said Erica Hawkins, communication director for the Ohio Department of Agriculture. “Her background in graphic design and event planning will come in handy as she helps us prepare materials and plan events for the summer, including our exhibits at the Ohio State Fair and the Farm Science Review.”

Gress will return to Ohio State in the fall to complete her degree in agricultural communication. She is the daughter of Joseph and Linda Gress and a graduate of Triway High School.

The agricultural communication major at Ohio State prepares students to plan, develop, and implement a communication campaign, using visual media, writing and editing. Students study crisis communication, graphic design, marketing, and journalism so they can spread the word about agriculture.
