In the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership, our undergraduate students are offered three majors - agricultural communication, agriscience education and community leadership.
Through these programs, students become involved in coursework where they will learn to communicate, educate and lead organizations within both Ohio's largest industry - agriculture - and other industries, as well.
Students who are not interested in majoring in one of our areas of study can select one of our minors - agricultural communication, leadership studies, community outreach education and youth development - to supplement their major area of study. These minors are open to all Ohio State students (exceptions do apply to some ACEL majors).
We have faculty who serve as academic advisors, research mentors, course instructors, student organization advisors and education abroad program directors. Two student organizations are housed in our department. Our students participate in education abroad programs across all seven continents, honors and research, and internship experiences.
If you are interested in one of our majors, visit us! You can visit through a one-on-one, custom visit program by registering for an Experience Ohio State for a Day (EOFD) visit or a CFAES Overview Tour. Both visit programs are offered by the CFAES Office of Prospective Student Services. If you are interested in a University Overview Tour, you can register through the Ohio State Office of Admissions.
All applications for students interested in an undergraduate major of agricultural communication, agriscience education and community leadership at Ohio State are available at apply.osu.edu. Applications will be available August 1, 2019 - February 1, 2020. A priority deadline of November 1, 2019 has been set for students who wish to be considered for University scholarships.
