  2. Ray certified as CASE Master Teacher

    Tim Ray, a graduate student in the Agricultural and Extension Education doctoral program, has been awarded CASE (Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education) Master Teacher certification.

  3. ACEL to Sponsor EXTENSION Africa Conference

    The Center for African Studies (CAS) and partnering departments will host an international conference October 20th and 21st, 2014 on Agricultural Extension and Food Security in Africa.  The conference will feature paper presentations on food security, extension, gender, environment/climate change, private sector, information technology, youth and related issues on African development. The conference will be hosted at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center (Day 1) and the Fisher College of Business (Day 2).

  4. Ohio State ACT Wins National Chapter of the Year

    The Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT) chapter at The Ohio State University was presented with several national awards during the Ag Media Summit held in Indianapolis, July 26-30, 2014.

    The chapter was presented with the National ACT Chapter of the Year for the 2013-2014 academic year. Ohio State also won the award in 2009, 2010 and 2012.

  5. Alumni Board to Host Fall Event

    The Alumni Board for the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership will host an alumni tailgate and chili cookoff on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in the Agricultural Administration Auditorium from 3-5pm.

    Judging will take place at 3pm, so all entries should arrive at 2:30pm. Each winner will receive a trophy and his or her name on a plaque in the ACEL office.

    All alumni of and current students in the Department are encouraged to attend.

  6. Williams to complete internship with American Dairy Association Mideast

    Erin Williams, of McConnelsville, will complete an internship this summer with American Dairy Association Mideast in Columbus, Ohio.

    During the internship, Williams will use her communication skills to serve as an advocate of dairy. She will write news releases, create social media content and design printed and electronic materials for the organization. Williams will also coordinate events and activities for the Association for the Ohio State Fair, including the butter cow display.

  7. Bennett to complete internship with Beck’s Hybrids

    Meghan Bennett, of Houston, will complete a marketing internship this summer with Beck’s Hybrids in Atlanta, Indiana.

    During the internship, Bennett will develop press releases, coordinate media events, write in Beck’s monthly newsletter, create social media posts, gather product testimonials and create copy for advertising materials. She will also be challenged to write a weekly blog post on the Beck’s Blog regarding her internship experience.

  8. Spitznagel to complete internship with Ohio State Rec Sports

    Blake Spitznagel, of Mt. Orab, will complete a graphic design internship with Ohio State’s Office of Student Life Recreational Sports this summer.

  9. Gress to complete internship with Ohio Department of Agriculture

    ­Eileen  Gress, of Shreve, Ohio, will complete an internship this summer with the Ohio Department of Agriculture Communications Office in Columbus, Ohio.

    Gress will be working on a variety of graphic design projects, including infographics for social media use and designing materials for the Ohio State Fair and Farm Science Review. She will also be responsible for generating content for the blog “The Dirt” ( and gain valuable knowledge on media relations and preparing materials to the media.

  10. Honduras: Transformational Partnerships in an Inspirational Land

    ACEL faculty and students have embarked on a lasting partnership with the city of Choluteca, Honduras and surrounding communities.  What began with a fact-finding, planning trip by Dr. Jamie Cano and graduate student W. T. Agner in the spring of 2013 has grown over the past year into multiple humanitarian projects, an exceptional study abroad experience, and the promise of more alliances to come.
