  1. ACEL alumni board presents inaugural awards

    The alumni board of the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership (ACEL) at The Ohio State University is pleased to announce five alumni as recipients of the inaugural ACEL Alumni Awards.

    The alumni, Beth Boomershine, Rose Hartschuh, Larry Lokai, Kayla Oberstadt and John Poulson, were recognized at the department’s annual banquet.

  2. Scheer named interim chair for ACEL

    Dr. Scott D. Scheer has been named as interim chair for the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership (ACEL) in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) at The Ohio State University effective September 1, 2019, through August 31, 2020, or until a new chair is appointed.

  3. First Centennial Endowment Project Selected

    The first project for the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership’s Centennial Endowment has been awarded funding.

    Drs. Jera Niewoehner-Green and Mary Rodriguez submitted the selected proposal, which designs a study abroad program to Trinidad and Tobago that will aim to provide experiential international education for both undergraduate and master’s level graduate students that contextualizes leadership and change in the community settings. 

  4. Kitchel completes Big Ten Leadership Program

    Dr. Tracy Kitchel, professor and chair for the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership (ACEL), recently completed the Big Ten Academic Alliance’s Academic Leadership Program (ALP).

    Congratulations to the following students who were named to the 2019 Spring Semester Dean's List for the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. 

    To be named to the Dean's List, a student must earn a 3.5gpa or higher during that semester.

  7. Wilson successfully defends dissertation

    Join us in congratulating Dr. Kelly Wilson on the successful defense of her dissertation titled "Do Women Reap the Benefits? Exploring Access and Social Exclusion among Village Chicken Producers in Kenya."

    Dr. Wilson completed her dissertation under the advisement of Dr. Mary Rodriguez and Dr. Scott Scheer. Dr. Jera Niewoehner-Green and graduate faculty representative Dr. Karen Mancl served as members of her committee.

  8. Wilson named Ohio State Presidential Fellow

    Kelly Wilson, a PhD student studying agricultural and extension education was named a 2018 Presidential Fellow by The Ohio State University Graduate School.

    The Presidential Fellowship is the most prestigious award given by the Graduate School to recognize the outstanding scholarly accomplishments and potential of graduate students entering the final phase of their dissertation research or terminal degree project.
