About Us

The mission of The Ohio State University's Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership (ACEL) is to prepare educators, communicators, and leaders in the food, agricultural, and environmental sciences to integrate research-based information through learning, practice, and engagement, in ways that will advance positive changes that strengthen individuals, families, and communities.

ACEL is known to be among the best in the country for preparing students to become talented educators (in public schools and in non-school settings), communicators and leaders that can address the needs, opportunities, and challenges of a changing world in the areas of food science, environmental science, and agriculture.
