Teacher Licensure Instructions

3. Complete Teaching License application available at: http://www.ode.state.oh.us

  • Then to: Teaching
  • Then to: Educator Licensure
  • Then to: Educator Licensure Applications
  • Then to: #2 Initial License (education program completed inside of Ohio) 
  • You are applying for an: Four-Year Resident Educator License
  • Your License Type is: 66 (Career – Technical)
  • Your Teaching Field is: 010100 Agriscience
  • Pay the $160.00 licensure application fee

4. Once Dr. Filson has verified the information (Good Moral Character Form, Record of Occupational Experience Form, and Career Objective Statement) as true and correct, a confirmation letter is sent to the College of Education and Human Ecology for signature and then forwarded to the ODE.  Once your confirmation letter has left Dr. Filson’s office, it generally takes six to eight weeks for you to receive your license. Also, once the confirmation letter leaves Dr. Filson’s office, there is no way to “track” the application.

5. The following assessment scores need to be on file at the Ohio Department of Education:

  • Ohio Assessment for Educators
  • AgriScience Content Exam
  • EdTPA

6. Background Check: Any individual applying for an initial Ohio license is required to complete a background check through the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII) AND the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). There is a fee for this service. The BCII and FBI reports are sent directly to ODE, not to Dr. Filson.
