  1. Holbrook, Ramirez, Van Fleet Named CFAES Distinguished Seniors

    Kiley Holbrook, Kylie Ramirez, and Branson Van Fleet were named Distinguished Seniors in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.

    The Distinguished Senior Award honors top graduating seniors who exemplify the CFAES mission in areas such as academics and scholarship, research and innovation, service and involvement, and influence and leadership.

    Holbrook, of Amanda, Ohio, will graduate in May with a degree in agricultural communication.

    Ramirez, of Killbuck, Ohio, will graduate in May with a degree in agricultural communication.

  2. Wilhelm, Meyer elected to CFAES Student Council leadership positions

    Kaylyn Wilhelm and Leah Meyer were recently elected to serve on the executive committee of the undergraduate student council for the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences for the 2024-2025 academic year.

    Wilhelm, a sophomore studying agriscience education, will serve as the vice-president. She is from Enon, Ohio.

    Meyer, a freshman studying agricultural communication, will serve as the public relations chair. She is from Anna, Ohio.

  3. Hoog, Schuerman earn first place at Denman

    Congratulations to Mackenzie Hoog and Sheriden Schuerman, along with their faculty mentor Dr. Cara Lawson, on their first place finish at the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum. Their project, "An Exploration of Climate Change Experience and Climate Self-Efficacy," received the top prize in the "Earth & Beyond" category.

  4. Cox joins ACEL as AgOne director

    Jenny Cox joined the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership and the OSU Leadership Center as the director of AgOne. 

    In this role, Jenny will lead the AgOne, which is a leadership training with the goal of cultivating the next level of leaders for Ohio's agriculture-related organizations by fostering individual leadership and strengthening board members and top tier leaders. It's a partnership between ACEL, the Max M. Fisher College of Business, and the OSU Leadership Center. 

  5. ACEL has 62 students named to CFAES Dean's List

    The Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership had 62 undergraduate students recognized by the University for their academic accomplishments for the 2023 Autumn Semester as a member of the Dean’s List. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must have a 3.5 GPA or higher.

  6. Seven ACEL students participate in global education programs

    Students of the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education and Leadership (ACEL) spent time studying abroad during Ohio State’s spring and summer breaks. While students participated in programs in multiple countries, they all spent time learning about the unique role agriculture plays in communities across the globe.

    At the annual American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE) conference, Dr. Annie Specht, associate professor of agricultural communication at The Ohio State University, was selected as the 2023 Distinguished Agricultural Communications Educator.  

  8. Wickham receives award from national agricultural association

    Emily Wickham, communication and undergraduate program manager in the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership, was recognized with the Ray A. Miller Professional Achievement Award at the 2023 conference for the National Agricultural Alumni and Development Association (NAADA).

  10. Thomas awarded NAFB scholarship

    Sarah Thomas, a master’s student in agricultural communication, education, and leadership, was presented the Farmakis Scholarship by the NAFB Foundation at the annual National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) Convention recently held in Kansas City, MO.

    Since 1977, the NAFB Foundation has provided financial support and educational opportunities in the form of college scholarships to assist students in pursuit of careers in agricultural communication. More than $545,750 in scholarships have been awarded.
